The Coverity Software Integrity Rating program is designed to provide your organization an objective standard to measure the integrity of your software as well as reveal defects in software you integrate from third-party suppliers, helping you create a common "apples to apples" measurement of software risk across your entire software supply chain. The ratings are based on an assessment of the potential impact of defects, type of defects, total number of defects, total number of defects per thousand lines of code (defect density), correct use of Coverity products, and analysis accuracy.

The Coverity Software Integrity Rating program will also help you promote the success of development teams that consistently deliver highly rated software code and products. Development teams can also use the Coverity Software Integrity Ratings as objective evidence to support requirements for quality and safety standards.

Echostar Logo

"EchoStar uses Coverity to help reduce the risk of software defects in our award-winning portfolio of set-top boxes, DVRs, home networking and place-shifting technology. We support using Coverity's Software Integrity Rating program across our supply chain to help ensure our vendors and suppliers have taken steps to qualify for the 'Coverity Integrity Seal' and that their products are free of software defects before shipping under our brand."

The process is simple:

  • Register for the Coverity Software Integrity Rating program.
  • Coverity will provide you with an automated script which runs the analysis and generates a Software Integrity Rating report, including an initial software integrity rating.
  • Submit the report to integrityrating@coverity.com for assessment and validation by Coverity.
  • If all program requirements are met, you will receive an approved software integrity rating and will be issued a Coverity Integrity Seal to mark the integrity level achieved for the submitted code base, project, or product.
  • Coverity Integrity 1
  • Coverity Integrity 2

Coverity Software Integrity Ratings will be approved upon achieving the following criteria:

  • Coverity Integrity Level 1: Defect density is better than average in the software industry and all rating requirements are met
  • Coverity Integrity Level 2: Defect density is in the 90th percentile of the software industry and all rating requirements are met

The Coverity Integrity Seal can be promoted internally and externally as a sign that your software was analyzed for defects that could compromise product safety, security, and performance, and as evidence of the software integrity of your products.
