From 1998 to 2002, the foundational technology for Coverity’s expanding platform of development tools was developed in the Computer Systems Laboratory at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. Soon after releasing the first system capable of detecting thousands of critical defects in open source projects in 2003, a group of Stanford researchers went on to develop the software for commercial use, forming what is now Coverity, Inc.
With roots deeply entwined in the academic community, Coverity understands the value that fresh perspective and dedicated research can bring our products and the market place; our customers rely on the next generation workforce of skilled engineers. Coverity’s Academic Software Program is therefore designed to grant universities all over the country the opportunity to access our leading source code analysis software for the purpose of developing, analyzing, building and testing software code in an academic setting—either as part of a class offering or as part of non-profit academic research.
